An Egyptian fraction is a sum of positive, distinct unit fractions, such as 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/16. The calculator requires the Egyptian fraction to be entered as the integer part, followed by the denominators of the unit fractions separated by spaces, for example, 1+1/2+1/3+1/4+1/5 must be entered as 1 2 3 4 5.

The calculator will output the resulting rational number in the form of a fraction, such as 13/16. It uses an algorithm that progressively adds the unit fractions together to determine the numerator of the resulting rational number.

Egyptian fractions were used in ancient Egypt for calculations and measurements. The calculator can be helpful for students and professionals working with ancient mathematics, as well as those who are interested in the history and development of mathematics.
